Impossible to buy the right hardware

So, i bought a Linksys wrt54g router, thinking I’d be all |337 and install dd-wrt. Alas, I got the eminently unhackable version 8 and, furthermore, the configurable features are actually more paltry than my 4-year-old D-Link piece of shit. I consider myself pretty fucking hardware-savvy, and it’s still impossible to buy the right shit.

PS. — if anyone can think of a single reason that allowing port forwarding, but not assigning particular IPs to particular MAC addresses via DHCP makes even the slightest amount of sense, I’m all fucking ears.
